I am the Thomas J. and Robert T. Rolfs Associate Professor of Philosophy and the Director of Graduate Studies at Notre Dame. I am also an Associate Editor at Philosophical Studies. I specialize in traditional epistemology, and I have further research interests in formal and social epistemology. My work focuses on the relationship between knowledge and rational action, the nature of belief, the value of knowledge, and issues in epistemology that shed light on fake news, political polarization, and related phenomena. I am also interested in the philosophy of language, the philosophy of mind, the philosophy of religion, metaphysics, and early modern philosophy.
